Pros: I prefer review with practice questions, and this book was the only kind of its type for the ACNP exam. I thought the content distribution was thorough, and most of the rationale was helpful in critically thinking through the questions. Additionally, the price was fair for an exam review book, especially considering comparison of costs with taking a review course.

Cons: There were frank errors in some of the questions. Some of the questions gave incorrect answers, both in the printed text and online. In reading through the rationale, it became evident they had simply printed the wrong answer. Further, there was at least two questions that were nearly identical, yet had differing answers, both with supporting rationale regarding trans-theoretical model (cf. Ch. 1, #5, Ch. 18, #18) In my opinion, that is frankly unacceptable for an exam preparation guide. Finally, as is expected in many of these exam prep resources, many of the questions were worded very poorly answer choices were not especially clear.

In summary: I still rated the resource as 3 stars, because it is the only one of its kind that I found (and I looked). I did not have the resources to pay for an expensive review course and travel to another area of the country to take it. Thus, I found the practice question manner worthy of a 3-star rating. However, should any other publication come out with study question book, I would recommend trying it first.

Since there is a limited amount of study materials for the ACNP exam, this book is pretty much the most updated book out there. I would recomend using it along with one of the review courses (I went to the course through Barkley-Its awesome!) There is a lot of review questions that cover a large amount of material... HOWEVER the book advertises that you can go online to get additional review questions and they are all the same from the book-word for word with NO additional questions. They also have a master 200 question test that is again-the SAME questions from the book. What a waste!! The text makes you think you are getting this online code with addtional questions- and all it is the same questions you already have in the book-with the ability to view them online. Overall not a bad study guide-its basically all thats out there that is up to date. I would recommend a review course 1st (you can even buy the course that comes with the CDs and study guide and not have to travel to the course location)and if you are a person that really likes practice questions-get this book.
