Rather than rely on rote memorization, you’ll learn the underlying rationale for treatment of common infectious diseases and pathogens. The text focuses on antibacterial agents, examining individual antibiotics and antibiotic classes as well as definitive and empiric therapies—providing a framework for prescription and clinical preparation for students training to be physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacologists, or medical technologists. Clinicians also rely on Antibiotic Basics for quick reference or review.
The Second Edition includes current research and new approaches to emerging resistant organisms such as community-acquired, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase-producing bacteria. In addition, the book has been updated to reflect changes in treatment guidelines, including new guidelines for Clostridium difficile colitis and urinary tract infections.Direct download links available for PRETITLE Antibiotic Basics for Clinicians [Kindle Edition] POSTTITLE

Excellent information. I am a new nurse practitioner and did not get this info in NP school. Really explains bacterial biological processes and how antibiotics target them, then reviews various bacteria, followed by usual therapies for the most common disease states. It finishes up with clinical scenarios and review questions, as well as helpful tables. Loved it, and plan to periodically review it. I had a lot of "AHA" moments. What does this book lack? It should explain how to read a culture and sensitivity report, and the concept of minimum inhibitory concentration.

This book is excellent for those who either have no background with antibiotics or need a good review. The information is presented thoroughly and effectively. I would rate this book five starts and highly recommend it to everyone.
