Hurst Reviews Medical-Surgical Nursing ReviewI got up to page 47 in this book. The chart on this page is all WRONG and backwards in many instances----increased potassium is associated with Addison NOT Cushings (Cushings is associated with decreased potassium); alkalosis is NOT assoc w/increased potassium, acidosis IS associated with increased potassium. Hyperaldosteronism is increased sodium, so would be decreased potassium NOT increased potassium (sodium and potassium are inverse) OMG OMG TERRIBLE EDITING AND JUST PLAIN UNACCEPTABLE --FLUIDS AND ELECTROLYTES ARE SUCH A CRITICAL PART OF NURSING CARE !!!By Brenda
I stopped reading after page 47, I just don't trust the book after this. Too bad, I like how she organizes the book with factoids, hints, and "life or death" at the margins of the page and the format is concise but I don't have time to double check these typos.
This is an excellent review book for studying Med/Surg. It's easy to comprehend the medical terminology that nurses must know for the disease process. There are some helpful tips to assist you in learning the material. I wish I had bought this book in the beginning of my program. I have learned a lot since I purchased this book. Great tool to use for studying the RN Boards!By Ladystock
