I used this to pass my RHIT exam. I found the advice on how to prepare very helpful. It is important to note, as with ANY resource book, the publication dates prior to purchase because the book states the exam dates it applies to, as well as the resource textbook editions that the information is based on. Then you can check that against the AHIMA exam specs, which also specify the textbook editions they are based on. You can also check with the publisher. Another thing to keep in mind is that errors in any book can be expected. I also came across the same error (fetal)that another reviewer mentioned but I relied on my textbook since I had also corrected my textbooks when I took the classes. The bottom line is that the book is not purposed for memorization because the questions are NOT on the exam. It is designed to hone your understanding and skills, which are what you WILL be tested on. Also, the tests are designed in format like the exams. I certainly would not "throw the baby out with the bath water" over one or two errors that can be checked elsewhere when doubt arises. However, note that some other reviewers used it to prep for the RHIA exam (higher level questions likely added on exam), whereas I did not rely on AHIMA updates for reasons already stated. I know for a fact that I would not have passed without this resource, although I started with the Carter exam prep book that AHIMA recommends.

This book does not reflect updates from AHIMA.Students beware,You vcan easily fail your exam.some questions are not fully explanatory.Also this is not an approved study guide from AHIMA.Updates from 2011 are not shown in this book even though it came out in feb 2012.what a mess for books athat are rare for this type of certification
