I am a life skills instructor for adults with Developmental Disabilities in Illinois. My organization has been using this curriculum for over 5 years to teach health promotion classes to the individual we serve. I am so excited to have this new edition!By Katie B.
The curriculum was developed specifically for persons with DD, so as an instructor I have to make very few modifications to meet the cognitive needs of my class participants. The curriculum is broken up into 36 interactive, user-friendly modules, each with a specific lesson about living healthy lifestyles.
The structure of each lesson makes it easy for an instructor or a direct support staff to walk into a learning environment with all of the tools and resources they need to teach a lesson on health promotion. The curriculum also includes handouts and activities for class participants that are fun and informative.
The curriculum comes with a CD-ROM of all of the participant handouts, which makes them very accessible for instructors.
I highly recommend this curriculum to anyone working in the Developmental Disability field who has an interest in teaching Health Promotion.
