I use this book for a group we run in an adolescent mental health inpatient unit. We are not trained in DBT but like the approach and are trying to secure funding for the training. In the meantime we use the approach.By Mrs. S. Lewis
I find this book easy to use, with handouts on one side of the page and "how to do it" on the other. The sheets are easy to use and geared at a simple enough level for most of our clients to take the message on board despite their current difficulties.
I initially bought the book as I was getting stuck in thinking about mindfulness activities that are fun and easy to explain, and that we haven't done before recently. As our OT uses sensory integration in her groups, our icebreakers and mindfulness exercises tend to overlap!
I have found that this book has helped me to organise my groups, to help educate staff newish to the concepts of DBT, and the exercises can be short enough to grab the young peoples attention
I liked the format of this workbook for use in groups. I have utilized it as a supplement to group exercises and found it easy to use. I have found that the format of this workbook is easier to use than Linehan's skills manual as the Linehan manual seems geared more for academic study than application.By jusjosjoe
