This book is our primary textbook in my class this semester and it has everything I need. I got this book thru amazon for a fraction of what my college bookstore was selling it for.
By M. JOHNSON
I teach at a technical college and have been a pharmacy technician for over 10 years. We are now using this book in our curriculum and it has to be the most incomplete training book I have ever read through. Even if you were to ignore all the missing information, such as how to properly translate a prescription (just gives a list of sig codes), the editing process of this book seems to have been skipped. Throughout the book there are misspelled medications, incorrect grammar and punctuation, incorrect answers to problems (mainly the math problems), and at one point in chapter 19 a paragraph just stops (no period and they didn't even finish the sentence).

Another thing that really gets me about this book is that I have had more than one student comment on how condescending the author seems to be towards the reader. I want my students to have equal parts respect and enthusiasm towards the pharmacy technician profession and this book really seems crush their enthusiasm by the way in which it is worded.

Also, be cautious the workbook and certification review book that go along with this book (sold separately) do not follow the same techniques and principles in the core book so that also can become very confusing for technician students and teachers.

Personally, I would recommend using almost any other book on the market if you are looking for a good core book. After reviews from the teachers at my school we will now be switching our core books.
